February 24, 2014 –Bradenton, FL – For the 17th consecutive year, Alan Shawn Feinstein from Rhode Island will divide $1 million among hunger-fighting agencies nationwide, including The Food Bank of Manatee. The Food Bank of Manatee is requesting area businesses and individuals to take The Feinstein Challenge, conducting canned food drives or making donations during this period, when contributions received from March 1 to April 30 can count in the matching challenge total.
Clubs and civic groups can help too, like the River Strand Ladies Golf League, which will use their upcoming “Play with a Pro” fundraiser to count toward the Feinstein Challenge. Proceeds from the March 16th event will benefit The Feinstein Challenge for The Food Bank of Manatee.
Food and fund donations should be delivered to or mailed to: The Food Bank of Manatee, 811 23rd Avenue East, Bradenton, FL 34208. All food and monetary donations must be made between March 1, and April 30, 2013. Simply note “Feinstein Challenge” in a check memo or when contributing non-perishable goods. “This is always a difficult time of year for us,” said Cindy Sloan, Director of The Food Bank of Manatee, “because food collected at the holidays has been distributed and people aren’t thinking as much about giving. Donations during the Feinstein Challenge fill a great need that we have.”
