New series focuses on security while debriefings continue to offer wide-ranging themes
Tampa, Florida (February 25, 2014) – Tampa Downtown Partnership is launching a brand new breakfast forum series, the Downtown Security Network Series, an informational program focusing on security and safety related topics. This new series is in addition to the ongoing Downtown Debriefing Series, which has been a popular breakfast forum offered to Partnership members and non-members for the past 10 years. This ongoing series is offered eight times per year, providing presentations and panel discussions on timely downtown topics, plus a half hour of networking. Past forum topics have included:
Major events: International Indian Film Awards,Republic National Convention, etc.
Introduce new local leaders such as Joe Lopano, TIA, and Paul Anderson, Port Tampa Bay
Updates on new projects like ENCORE and CAMLS
This month’s Debriefing Series forum takes a look at public/private waterfront projects:
“Riding the Wave of Waterfront Development”

Waterworks Park is undergoing a + $7 million revitalization including boat docks, a canoe launch, a playground, and dog run. Ulele, the new concept from the Gonzmart Family of Restaurants, will open this spring in the historic Water Works building located next to the park along the banks of the Hillsborough River.
New Downtown Security Network Series
Launching on Wednesday, March 5, Downtown Security Network (DSN) Series is an extension of the Downtown Partnership’s continuing commitment to providing a safe and secure downtown district for everyone to enjoy. The Partnership has operated an actual Downtown Security Network for the past 20 years in cooperation with Tampa Police Department. The DSN delivers important information to the network’s + 3,000 downtown business and resident members. This coordinated effort has been a contributing factor to the 83% drop in Downtown Tampa’s crime rate over the past 10 years! The forums will augment these ongoing efforts.
DSN breakfasts will be held four times per year, in addition to the ongoing Hurricane Preparedness forum. The series kicks off next week with a high powered panel:
