SARASOTA (February 25, 2014) – Dementia patients often require long term specialized care, resulting in financial hardship for already stressed caregivers and loved ones . USF Sarasota-Manatee will host a free seminar on “Cost Considerations in Caring for Persons with Dementia throughout the End of Life—What YOU Need to Know” presented by Pines Education Institute of the Pines of Sarasota on Friday, March 14th from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m., in the USF Sarasota-Manatee Selby Auditorium, 8350 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota.
Caregivers, friends and family members, those who work in the field, and anyone affected by issues of dementia will want to attend this free seminar to learn useful information about medical and cost considerations in caring for people with dementia through the end of their life. Elder law attorneys Babette Bach, Teresa Bowman and Christopher Likens, USF Sarasota-Manatee geriatric social work scholar and professor Kathy Black and keynote speaker Ladislav Volicer, will discuss why early preparation is vital for the well-being of one’s family, and explain the documents needed to provide the greatest level of security for those impacted by dementia. Professor Volicer is recognized as an international expert on advanced dementia care and currently holds the position of courtesy full professor in the School of Aging Studies, College of Arts and Sciences at USF Tampa.
