SAINT LEO, FL – Saint Leo University (www.saintleo.edu) announced it is now recruiting students for a new Master of Science degree in cyber security through the Donald R. Tapia School of Business. Classes will be offered starting in the Fall Semester 2014 at University Campus, using a state-of-the-art cyber security laboratory to be installed on the fourth floor of the business building.
The 36-credit hour program is geared to current professionals in the information technology. The program will equip them with additional technical skills needed to secure the information assets of enterprises in a variety of sectors, including industry, health care, finance, government and law enforcement agencies, and academia. The curriculum takes into account the knowledge required to earn a variety of leading professional certifications in the field. “The job outlook for this area is very good, and in the Tampa Bay area, the demand far exceeds the supply,” said Dr. Vyas Krishnan, chair of computer science and information systems at the Tapia School of Business.
The first class of students to enroll will begin by taking classes on alternate Saturdays at University Campus. The program will be offered online beginning in the Spring Semester 2015.
Admission requirements include a bachelor’s degree in management information systems, computer information systems, computer science, computer engineering, or a related field. Faculty will work with prospective students who lack a bachelor’s degree in one of these fields and advise them what undergraduate courses they would need to complete successfully to be admitted to the program.
