Held along Main Street in Lakewood Ranch on February 1st, the open-air street festival attracted large crowds for free outdoor performances on three stages. The streets were temporarily closed to vehicle traffic and instead teemed with happy throngs of shoppers and art lovers.
“I think everyone had a great time,” said Linda Gross, co-manager of the event and owner of public relations agency Advice Solutions, Inc. “We had some very positive feedback and a wonderful response from the community as far as people wanting to perform. This event gets bigger and better every year. We have already started thinking about next year!”
Among the festival’s performers were folk singers, musicians, ballerinas, theater troupes, dancers, chorus groups and more. Mote Marine was on hand with its traveling Touch Tank, while free face painting and sand art were available for children. In addition to being a free event for the community, Grand Ovation is also a benefit to Lakewood Ranch Main Street merchants and restaurateurs, many of whom welcomed the crowds with special discounts and sales.
Plans are already being made for next year’s Ovation, with organizers now accepting applications from performers and sponsors. For more information, visit www.lakewoodranch.com or call Rachel Gray at 941-757-1548 or Linda Gross at 941-907-9507.
