You are here: / / Sandbar Restaurant Valentine’s Day Promotion Gives Two Local Couples a Sweet Reward
|Valentine’s Day was a little sweeter for two lucky couples this year. As part of a special promotion, they received a romantic dinner for two from the Sandbar Restaurant. The popular island restaurant held a Valentine’s contest called “Hearts in a Jar”. Throughout the two weeks before Valentine’s Day, there were mason jars full of candied hearts placed on all the restaurant tables in the dining room. Each jar was filled with exactly the same number of candied hearts. You know, the kind that have cute valentine sayings on them like kiss me, puppy love or be mine. Guests were encouraged to try and guess the exact number of hearts in the jar. Their guesses were entered into the contest.
According to Sandbar General Manager, Joe Rogers, “The contest was a huge success! One group of 6 came in for dinner one night just to participate”. According to Tina Fusaro, who came up with the contest idea, “The only problem we had was the guests opening the jars to eat some of the candy. Maybe next time we will need to do it with something non edible. There were two correct guesses so we will be giving each of them a romantic dinner for two”.
The winners were Bill Shuman and Blake Burger. But the story doesn’t end there. Cupid’s arrow struck again in an extra special way. Blake actually was on vacation from Colorado visiting his grandparents, Tom and Nancy Rose, when he entered the contest so he is not able to use the gift certificate. But love always prevails and in this case it just so happens to be Blake’s grandparent’s 60th wedding anniversary so he plans on surprising them by giving them the romantic dinner. The other winner, Mr. Shuman was thrilled to receive the news that he had won. He plans on taking his wife out for a special dinner sometime real soon.
And for those of you who made a guess…the correct number of hearts in the jar was 195.
We hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine’s Day!
