|Pasco County, Florida — Pasco Economic Development Council, Inc. is reaching out to medical and healthcare businesses in Pasco County to get more information about the industry and better understand how to respond to their needs. The effort is a response to the recent visit by the Urban Land Institute (ULI) panel in October 2013. The ULI panel spent the week meeting with Pasco business and government leaders, and ended the week with a presentation of a number of recommendations, including an increased attention to the needs of the healthcare and medical industry.
“The ULI panel suggested that Pasco is uniquely situated to take advantage of job growth in the healthcare sector,” said Jimmy Adcock, Regional Manager, Tampa Electric/Peoples Gas and Chairman of the Pasco EDC Growth Task Force. “It is very important we understand the needs of the industry, including workforce skills”.
Pasco EDC has developed a short survey for medical businesses in Pasco County and has posted the survey online to make it easier for companies to fill out the information. The survey asks questions about workforce needs, company structure, impediments to growth and other information.
“Our purpose is to get a better understanding of the current structure of the medical and healthcare community, identify growth plans, labor needs and other critical business issues,” said John Walsh, Pasco EDC Vice President.
The list of identified companies is long and includes over 750 contacts in Pasco County including: outpatient clinics, medical doctors, dentists, home healthcare, laboratories, assisted living and skilled nursing homes. The survey takes no more than 15 minutes to complete and can be found online at www.pascoedc.com.
Adcock added, “Ultimately, we will identify gaps in our local resources and suggest new programs or program enhancements to respond to opportunities identified through the survey process.”
