SARASOTA, Fla. Feb 12, 2014 – ShelterBox USA, an international disaster relief organization with its U.S. headquarters based in Lakewood Ranch, has hired Amy Farrington as donor relations manager.
ShelterBox provides humanitarian aid—emergency tented shelter and other supplies, such as stoves, blankets and water filtration systems, among other tools to help families rebuild their lives after losing their homes and possessions following a disaster such as earthquake, volcano, flood, hurricane, cyclone, tsunami or conflict.
Farrington, who first joined the organization as a volunteer in June, 2013, was hired as donor relations manager to provide support for the charity’s donor relations and development program.
“Since joining us as a volunteer, Amy has shown her passion for our mission as well as the depth of her nonprofit capabilities and experience,” said Tiffany Stephenson, director of communications at ShelterBox USA.
As donor relations manager, Farrington will serve as a resource for individual and corporate donors and will assist in donor and fundraising communications.
“Amy has a great work ethic and is strongly committed to the ShelterBox mission,” said Emily Sperling, president of ShelterBox USA. “She has exceptional experience and will be a substantial asset to our team.”
Prior to joining ShelterBox, Farrington assisted with donor development, communications and administration at various organizations, including Agape Flights, a nonprofit ministry based in Venice, Fla.
Farrington holds a law degree from the University of Florida as well as Masters of Administration focusing in nonprofit management from the University of West Florida.
ShelterBox assists families abroad and within the U.S., including those affected by the tornadoes that swept through Moore, Okla. last year. Currently, the organization is responding to Typhoon Haiyan and the Syrian refugee crisis, providing tented shelter and other essential equipment to families in need.
