TAMPA, Fla.—Port Tampa Bay is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of the 25th Annual Tampa Steel Conference, held in Tampa and hosted by Port Tampa Bay and title sponsor Ports America, February 6-7. The conference, held at the Tampa Marriott Waterside, is a premier event within the steel industry, consistently featuring the industry’s most dynamic and knowledgeable presenters and attracting a diverse array of professionals representing ports, logistics, supply chain management and various transportation modes.
After an enthusiastic opening and remarks by Port President/CEO Paul Anderson and Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn, the esteemed speakers for this year’s panels included Charles A. Bradford CFA, partner, Metals Industries Advisory Group LLC; David D. Hodory, vice president of marketing and communications, David J. Joseph Co.; Paul Nathanson, founding partner, Policy Resolution Group at Bracewell & Giuliani LLP and executive director of Consuming Industries Trade Action Coalition (CITAC); Richard Chriss, executive director of American Institute for International Steel (AIIS). In addition, there was a panel of Tampa area business leaders who utilize the Port of Tampa, who discussed local success stories in processing and manufacturing. Those panelists included Chris Bush, general manager, Titan Metals; and David Hale, CEO, Tampa Tank/Florida Structural Steel. Moderator for the panel was Tom Balcerek, senior editor of Platts, a leading steel industry publication.
As a special inclusion for the 25th anniversary, the conference featured luncheon keynote Stu Varney, noted economist and host of “Varney & Company” on Fox News, who presented commentary during the luncheon and concluded the day-and-a-half event.
