Tampa Bay, FL – February 4, 2014 – The Scandinavian Trade Association Tampa Bay (STA) is off to a strong start in 2014. Formerly known as the Scandinavian Baltic Trade Association, STA remains Tampa Bay’s only non-profit association that represents the interests of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and the United States.
Ivar Fiskaa, president of Scand-America International, Inc. was inducted as the 2014 president of the organization at their annual meeting at the Tampa Club on January 23. Fiskaa brings a strong and versatile background in international knowledge to the position. Fiskaa stated “I’m both proud and honored to take over the helm of this organization that plays such an important role in international relations. Membership in the STA is an opportunity to create, promote and strengthen business exchange between the Scandinavian and Baltic Countries with the North American market.”
Four new board members were also introduced at the meeting. Their board positions will be determined at an up-coming meeting to be held in February, 2104. They are: Johan Lidros, Susan Sutter, Shanida De Gracia (STAs 2013 president) and Helena Walker. In addition, Nicholas R. De Stefano of Business Services of Tampa Bay, LLC was appointed as chair of the committee for innovation, fundraising and sponsorship.
Fiskaa adds, “The 2014 leadership team is a strong one. We are planning exciting and informative events and encourage everyone to become involved in this dynamic organization.” Fiskaa also noted that the STA has been contacted by a number of companies in Scandinavia who have plans to establish businesses in Florida. The STA will play an instrumental role in providing information and helping these companies with their plans.
