|Help raise money for homeless pets!The Humane Society of Manatee County invites you and your four legged friends to join the 8th Annual Paws in Motion Walk-a-thon Fundraiser on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the Bradenton River Walk Pavilion, 452 3rd Ave West, Bradenton. All proceeds from this event benefit the Humane Society of Manatee County, providing shelter, food and medical care for hundreds of animals that each year. The one mile walk route will take walkers along the beautiful Bradenton River Walk. Walkers are encouraged to create teams, fundraise, bring their families and dogs.
The Paws in Motion Walk-a-thon will bring out hundreds of animal lovers to support the Humane Society’s largest fundraiser of the year. Walkers will enjoy entertainment, raffle prizes, vendors, food trailers and the highly anticipated and entertaining Doggie Fun Zone obstacle course. Individual dogs chase a lure through the fully enclosed Grand Prix style raceway. A Top Dog Run-Off will take place at 1:00 pm to determine who is the fastest dog.
New to this year’s walk-a-thon festivities is a drawing contest open to children in Pre-K through 5th grade. Children must submit a hand drawn depiction of “Me and My Pet”. All drawing entries are due by 5pm on February 14th to the Humane Society of Manatee County (hand deliver or mail only) to 2515 14th Street West, Bradenton, FL 34205.All submitted drawings will be displayed at the walk-a-thon. Winners for each age category will be announced at the Paws in Motion Walk-a-thon at 12:00pm.
The walk starts at 9:00 am, registration begins at 8:00 am. Walk T-shirts, Goody Wag Bags and a pass to the Doggie Fun Zone will be given to all registered walkers. Registration is $25 (ages 16+) and $10 for children under the age of 16. Prizes will be given to the top three fundraising teams and individuals that raise the most money, including the coveted Spokespet position, given to the top fundraising individual. Your family and four legged best friend will enjoy a fun day while raising money for the dogs and cats at the shelter!
The Humane Society of Manatee County is a private nonprofit 501 (c) (3) organization that receives no funding from tax payers or any other umbrella organization.
