TALLAHASSEE, Florida, January 27, 2014Governor Rick Scott has proclaimed February 10-16 as Professional Writers Week in the State of Florida. The Governors proclamation noted, Florida experiences continued growth during this new century, and professional writers will continue to contribute significantly to our economic prosperity.
Among other observances, the Bay Area Professional Writers Guild (BAPWG), in its 27th year as the only professional non-fiction freelance writers and authors group in the Tampa Bay area, is hosting a One Day, No Frills, Nitty-Gritty, Bare Bones, Brown Bag Writers Workshop, Saturday, February 15. Set at Minnreg Hall in Largo, it will feature some of the areas top professional freelance writers and will focus on the facts of life in todays unique publishing environment. The featured writers will each deliver pertinent how-to information on getting published in todays markets, and will provide useful handouts to participants.
The proclamation also noted that Florida has long been the home or favorite destination for some of Americas most famous and prolific professional writers; both fiction and nonfiction writers have told Floridas stories in books and periodicals and prose and poetry since her earliest beginnings; and people from all around the world have come to Florida to visit or to stay because of the words of professional writers.
The BAPWG Workshop will run from 8:30 am to 4 pm, with an RSVP Application available online at www.bapwg.org. The cost is $25 and checks or money orders should be payable to BAPWG and sent to Treasurer Rick Rhodes, 360 Mt. Oak Ave. NE, St Petersburg, FL 33702. Early reservation is advised, with admission $35 on the day of the event.
