MANATEE COUNTY, FL (Jan. 24, 2014) – Manatee County Government will host the first ever United Way Clay Shoot at Ancient Oak Gun Club on Saturday, Feb. 22.
Event organizer Mary Pendleton-Brown says the event is open to the public for both experienced and novice shooters. Four-person teams will compete in a 50-bird shootout during the event. There will be raffles and door prizes. Lunch and ammunition are included in the price of admission, $75 per shooter before Feb. 10 or $85 per shooter or $340 for a team of four. All proceeds benefit the United Way of Manatee.
“We’re always thinking of new ways to raise funding and awareness for the United Way,” Pendleton-Brown says. “This year we’re trying something different and people are getting excited about this skeet shoot. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”
Registration begins at 8 a.m. on the day of the event. A brief safety instruction will begin at 8:30 and shooting begins at 9. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m. Trophies will be awarded for first, second and third place teams and the high overall shooter will win a gun donated by the Bullet Hole of Sarasota.
The Gun Club has 24 shooting stations on two separate courses which are operated by a wireless, radio-controlled launching system that also offers a delay for the individual shooter and a 5-stand for shotgun shooting enthusiasts.
