Lakewood Ranch will host the 45th Annual Devereaux-Kaiser Antique Car Show from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 26, on Rangeland Parkway. This is a new location for the storied car show, hosted by the Sunshine Region AACA and Lakewood Ranch. It is the largest of its kind in Florida. The public is welcome to the free event.
“We are so pleased to be able to hold our Devereaux-Kaiser Car Meet at the Lakewood Ranch property on Rangeland Parkway, said Ed Smith, the chairman of the event and vice president of Sunshine Region AACA. “We look forward to a wonderful show on the large, grassy site with the three entries/exits to accommodate the huge volume of traffic that is anticipated for car entries and spectators. Our Sunshine Region AACA has high expectations for the site as far as ease of entry for the show is concerned. In addition, Lakewood Ranch is a central location for the Florida Suncoast. The show will have room to spread out, not only for the show cars, but for the car corral where car owners anticipate selling their cars, and also, for the additional vendor and sponsor spaces.”
More than a thousand vehicles, vintage 1989 and older, from all over Florida and neighboring states will be on display. There is no entry fee for cars and no judging. “Any vehicle 25 years or older is welcome to participate in our collector car meet,” Smith said. “There is no registration fee and no fee for spectators, or spectator parking. Refreshments and food, provided by the Sarasota Bahia Vista Mennonite Church, will be for sale on the grounds during the show. Everyone is welcome to come and refresh their memories of the past.
“Since there is no preregistration, we can only estimate how many collector cars will attend in 2014,” Smith continued. “The Sunshine Region AACA has held the Devereaux-Kaiser Car Meet for 44 years, and each year it has increased in size. Last year, there were over 2,000 collector cars entered, with an estimate of 13,000 to 15,000 spectators in attendance.”
There will also be a “Collector Car Corral” at the show for individuals wishing to sell their vintage cars. The fee for placing a car in the Corral is $25; however there is no fee for one wishing to view the cars for sale.
