TAMPA, Fla. (Jan. 1, 2014) – This afternoon, the University of South Florida’s mascot, Rocky the Bull, was officially named the winner of the Capital One Mascot Challenge- beating out schools around the country such as LSU, Michigan State, Oregon, Texas Tech, and Wisconsin.
Rocky, USF System President Judy Genshaft, and others will celebrate the victory at 5 p.m. today inside the Lee Roy Selmon Athletics Center.
USF Director of Athletics Doug Woolard, Head Football Coach Willie Taggart, and Men’s Basketball Coach Stan Heath will also be in attendance, along with the USF Sundolls Dance Team and USF cheerleaders.
Since August, Rocky has competed in the Capital One Mascot Challenge, going undefeated throughout the season. The week of Dec. 9-15 Rocky faced Texas Tech’s Raider Red in the finals, with fan votes determining the outcome. The winner was announced at halftime of today’s Capital One Bowl in Orlando.
The Lee Roy Selmon Athletics Center is located near the intersection of Bull Run Drive and Elm on the Tampa campus.
