Jan Michael Ringlever was born in the Netherlands and, from the age of 7 raised in South Ireland. While growing up, Jan Michael felt the pull to connect with the freedom and space offered by his surroundings. Photography allows him to document the process and show how colorful the world is to his eyes. Jan Michael strongly identifies with the vast natural untouched beauty of Ireland. He credits its influence to his desire to allow his spirituality to speak through his photography. He moved to the United States after finishing his education in Ireland and still retains a soft Irish lilt to his speaking voice.
Jan Michael’s philosophy of seeing the world around him through his lens led him to be a world traveler taking him to India, back to Ireland, and up and down the Eastern Coast of the United States. He found pursuing the art of photography evoked a desire within him to help people care about what he sees in nature. “I am all about finding a way to get through to people about the world that surrounds us.” he says. “I feel my art evokes emotion and reaches out to people so that they can see the world around them in a different way. With nature we can observe pure air, clean water, and an abundance of food to nurture us.”
The journey of documenting the world has led to publications within the International Photography Society and major travel magazines. Recent endeavors include philanthropy services, trips to Ireland and New England documenting the inspiration of his work. The spiritual experience of being close to nature is restorative. Jan Michael’s desire is to share the intimate beauty of the natural world.
