(SARASOTA, Fla, December 23, 2013) Manasota SCORE is now creating and posting podcasts to share helpful information about buying, selling, marketing or improving a business.
“Been There, Done That!” is a series of podcast interviews, with each interview featuring an expert in a particular aspect of business.
Small business owners and those planning to buy or sell a business can link to the podcasts on the organization’s website, www.manasota.score.org, or find them on iTunes.
“We’ve had really good response from entrepreneurs who find this an easy platform for accessing information that relates to their business development,” said Manasota SCORE Vice Chair and podcast host Dennis Zink.
The first four podcasts address Buying a Business, Selling a Business, Franchising, and Alternative Financing. In these episodes, SCORE mentors Norm Silverstein, Bob Melberth and Fred Dunayer share their extensive experience and expertise.
In Episode 5, Exporting, Zink interviews Chuck Steilen, who has nearly 40 years of experience in exporting products, including international trade with Hong Kong and China.
Episode 6 addresses Computer Loss Prevention, Data Backup and Recovery. In it, Zink interviews David Spire, president and CEO of United Systems, Inc. Among other awards and recognition, United Systems was included in the Tampa Bay Business Journal’s list of Top 25 Largest Managed IT Service Providers.
In Episode 7, Zink interviews Tim Hearon and Rick Emberly of Boomerswork.us. This service matches retired or nearly retired people with prospective employers looking for part-time or limited-time staff.
“The podcasts are gaining an audience,” Zink said. “More listeners are subscribing to our free business series, and each new podcast is downloaded more often than the previous ones. We continue to expand our distribution, through Stitcher and others channels.”
Encouraged by the response and with an interesting list of prospective topics and interviewees, Manasota SCORE plans to post 40 podcasts through 2014.
Manasota SCORE has over 40 volunteers providing education and mentoring services in Sarasota and Manatee counties. The organization conducts three sets of workshops on an on-going basis: Simple Steps for Starting Your Business, Grow Your Business!, and Specialized Workshops. They also provide a wide range of online courses in English and Spanish at www.manasota.score.org. To contact Manasota SCORE, visit the website or call 941.955.1029.
