Ashley Halley Teaching Yoga to Relieve Stress During FCAT Testing at St. Peter’s Claver
Tampa, FL, December 16 — This time of the year is always associated with stress. It comes in all shapes and sizes, but for students, stress is usually at its peak during exam week. For the sake of their sanity, students need to find ways to decompress and to release stress.
At 11 am on December 17th, Ashley Halley will be bringing her mat to teach yoga relaxation techniques to the students at St. Peter Claver Parish in Tampa during their exam week. Her goal is to reach out to the students and teach them the benefits of yoga and the improvements it can make during the stressful and long FCAT testing week.
Relaxation yoga techniques will teach students to calm their minds, and breathe deeper, which will allow them to better manage any stress that often accompanies exam week because they’ll have the tools to allow themselves to think clearer. Halley is devoted to not only delivering these techniques to students, but also teaching them how to use them in order to relax.
“Yoga movement and deep breathing techniques help relieve stress and refocus the mind, which leads to clearer thinking. I want the students to use these techniques during their tests. I feel confident that if they incorporate simple breathing techniques it will make the testing process less stressful and result in better performance,” said Halley.
St. Peter Claver Parish is currently underfunded, and is one of the beneficiaries of Feeding America of Tampa Bay. The non-profit organization supplies all of the students breakfast and lunch everyday. Ashley Halley will be giving a part of everything she knows to under privileged students, so that they can take even the smallest of life’s stressors and learn to positively handle them with breathing techniques.
Ashley Hailey will be at St. Peter Claver Parish at 1203 North Nebraska Ave in Tampa at 11 am on Tuesday, December 17th.
