|SARASOTA, Fl.—December 6, 2013— All Faiths Food Bank’s annual luncheon honoring its volunteers took place this week at Temple Emanu-El with more than 200 people in attendance.
Guests enjoyed lunch catered by Mattison’s Restaurant Group followed by the awards ceremony. Presented by Food Bank Executive Director Sandra Frank, FCCI Insurance Group was the recipient of the 2013 Corporate Volunteer of the Year award.
FCCI Insurance Group has made many considerable contributions to All Faiths Food Bank over the years that include sponsorship donations, advocacy and volunteering. This year, 112 FCCI employees volunteered for regular 3-hour shifts each month to help sort food, and many of them signed up to help at special events like Bowls of Hope, the National Letter Carrier’s Food Drive, and Florida Blues Fest. This year they also earned an “orange peel award” for their actions during “Hunger Action Month” in September.
“We could not serve our neighbors in need without our wonderful and hardworking volunteers,” said Sandra Frank, All Faiths Food Bank’s Executive Director. “FCCI is always ready to support our efforts and I am thrilled to honor them with this award.”
Awards were also given out to volunteers who worked tirelessly collecting data for Feeding America’s national hunger study, the agency partner of the year, the DeSoto County allstars, and the children’s programs volunteers of the year. Each of the guests received a commemorative cutting board to take home as a reminder of their good works in the community.
All Faiths Food Bank enlists the help of more than 3,000 volunteers that assist in the collection, sorting, packing and distribution involved in providing food for 195 local pantries, soup kitchens, community centers, churches and programs.
