Awards Honor Outstanding Commercial Real Estate Properties and Industry Personnel
Tampa, FL – December 4, 2013 – The Building Owners and Managers Association of Greater Tampa Bay recognizes the winners of the 2013 Outstanding Building of the Year (TOBY) awards for the Tampa Bay area competition. The TOBY awards honor outstanding commercial real estate properties and industry personnel. The holiday-themed event under the “Rising to New Heights” banner was held at the Hilton in downtown Tampa. The awards program named award winners in the following categories:
500,000 – 1,000,000 square feet: Bank of America Plaza, submitted by Lynn Vilmar of CBRE, Inc., owned by Para-Met Plaza Associates
250,000 – 499,999 square feet: Park Tower, submitted by Mary Ayo, Colliers International Tampa Bay, owned by Sterling American Property, Inc.
100,000 – 249,999 square feet: Lakeview Center, submitted by Julia Silva Rettig of Penn-Florida, owned by EP East Tampa LLC/Penn Florida Companies.
Suburban Office Park: Baypoint Commerce Center, submitted by Penny Minich of The Feil Organization/Jeffery Management Corp., owned by KP Holdings Florida, LLC
Medical Office Building: Life Hope Medical Offices, submitted by Dan Weiskopf of Health Care REIT, owned by Health Care REIT
Industrial Park: Expressway Commerce Ctr A & B, submitted by Les Sabler of EastGroup Properties, owned by EastGroup Properties, LP
Earth Award: Tampa City Center, submitted by Sandra Ballestra, RPA, CPM, Mainstreet Real Estate Services, Inc., owned by One Tampa City Center, LLC

“What an amazing capstone to a high performance year at BOMA Greater Tampa Bay,” offered Lacey Willard, of CBRE, Inc., BOMA Greater Tampa Bay President. “Nearly 150 attendees celebrated the outstanding buildings, personnel, and chapter members here in Tampa with an energetic event. The program was complete with a surprise Holiday Flash Mob by the planning committee; timely remarks from Mayor Foster; and heartfelt thanks from the 14 award recipients invited to the podium.”
The 2013 TOBY award winners were announced at a ceremony on December 3, 2013 at the Hilton in downtown Tampa, FL. Chapter President Lacey Willard of CBRE, Inc. and incoming President Terri-lynn Mitchell of Cassidy Turley co-hosted the program. Winners of each category are eligible to advance to the regional BOMA competition. All applicants took part in a thorough review of their buildings including inspections of both public and non‐public areas of the buildings. The review process also included interviews with the property management teams and tenants, where they were evaluated in categories such as emergency preparedness, energy management, building security, and community impact.
