Highlighting Anna Maria Island Fishing Grounds
December 4, 2013 – When the television host known as the father of modern adventure travel wanted to produce a “Tide To Table” webisode for Orbitz.com about Florida fishing, he chartered his expedition through AMI Outfitters Coastal Gear & Apparel on Anna Maria Island. The newly-released video is featured in “Richard Bangs’ Quests” at http://www.richardbangs.com/destinations/bradenton and will soon be published at a custom Bradenton Area landing page on Orbitz.com where future visitors can make travel arrangements and research their trip.
On the water with AMI Outfitters’ owner Steve Traves and charter captain Harrison King, Bangs reeled in his first-ever king mackerel. In his career as an explorer, he led first descents of 35 rivers around the world including the Yangtze in China and the Zambezi in Africa. He founded the first multinational river-running company and the pioneering outfitter for global wilderness travel. Bangs has authored 19 books, 1000s of magazine articles and produced a score of documentaries.
The first outfitter established in Anna Maria, Traves’ shop is a hub for both fly and spin fishing charters — inshore, offshore and kayak-angling. Besides quality paddleboards, kayaks, fishing gear and other Island-related outdoor equipment, he also offers top-of-the-line sun protection apparel for the outdoorsman, including Patagonia, ExOfficio, Simms, Columbia and True Flies.
