Tampa, FL – December 3, 2013 – Pegasus TransTech and its employees Pay it Forward this holiday season and chose seven worthy causes to support in the transportation industry and their local community.
The notion of paying it forward has been around for centuries, but became more popularized in 2000 with Catherine Ryan Hyde’s novel Pay It Forward which was adapted into a Warner Brothers film, Pay It Forward. The concept is simple and based upon the idea of doing a good deed that is pure in intention, without expecting anything in return.
Thankful for the service of the U.S. armed forces, Pegasus TransTech chose to donate to Wreaths Across America, an initiative from the Truckload Carriers Association (TCA). On Dec. 14, 2013, thousands of wreaths will be delivered by the truckload from volunteering trucking companies and placed on the graves of veterans at Arlington National Cemetery.
To foster growth and improve image in the transportation industry, Pegasus TransTech and members of ACT 1 have supported and made monetary contributions to the Trucking Moves America Campaign. The goal is to communicate a positive image to those outside of the trucking industry by educating the public, media and government on trucking and to encourage the younger generation to explore employment opportunities in the transportation industry.
In addition to supporting the industry they work in, Pegasus TransTech and its employees take the initiative to support the community in which they live. Every Thanksgiving, employees have a Hope is Here –Metropolitan Ministries, food drive in their corporate office. As much as 200lbs of food, along with cash donations have been collected to help poor and homeless families in the area.
In the spirit of Christmas giving, Pegasus will also be participating in the Salvation Army Angel Tree Program and will adopt a dozen “paper angels”. The angels will be hung on the company Christmas tree and employees will shop and fill the holiday wish lists of local children. Later in December, employees will be doing a group volunteer day at the Toys for Tots warehouse and will help sort, package and wrap donated gifts.
The idea of paying it forward touches a chord with many people including Pegasus TransTech’s President & CEO, Frank Adelman. “It’s a major win-win scenario. Supporting these great causes gives us the opportunity to encourage volunteerism and teamwork amongst our employees, while helping our industry and the community we work and live in” Adelman said.
