TAMPA, Fla. (Dec. 3, 2013) – Fifth Third Bank (Tampa Bay) recently announced that Maritza Saez of Riverview, Fla. was selected as the winner of its Hispanic Heritage Month campaign. The Hillsborough County resident won a $500 gift card and selected the InterCultural Advocacy Institute to receive a $1,000 donation. This initiative was part of the Bank’s recent partnership with MAXIMA 92.5 (WYUU-FM), which highlighted contributions in music, science, industry and pop culture in a series called “Fifth Third Hispanic Notables.”
Saez was one of 20 $50 gift card winners who called the station after listening to a vignette featuring a Hispanic notable during Hispanic Heritage Month. Saez was also the $500 grand prize winner chosen at the conclusion of the month. Additionally, she had the honor of choosing the InterCultural Advocacy Institute to receive $1,000 from Fifth Third Bank.
“We are thankful to Martiza, Fifth Third Bank and MAXIMA 92.5 for their support – and donation,” said Sandra Lyth, CEO of the InterCultural Advocacy Institute. “These funds will directly support local families in need.”
Founded in partnership with the Clearwater Police Department in 2000, the InterCultural Advocacy Institute is a nonprofit organization based in Clearwater, Fla. that provides Spanish-speaking families a full spectrum of services, including interpreter and victim advocacy, youth programs, counseling and immigration law clinics.
Saez joined Fifth Third Bank representatives as they presented a $1,000 check to the InterCultural Advocacy Institute on Nov. 20 at 3 p.m. at the Fifth Third Banking Center located at 3411 West Columbus Drive in Tampa.
“We are honored to give back to the Hispanic community in Tampa Bay with the $500 prize and the $1,000 donation,” said José Peña, senior vice president and head of retail banking for Fifth Third Bank (Tampa Bay). “This was a great opportunity for our Bank to give the appropriate recognition to Hispanic leaders of the past, as well as to support the community’s needs today.”
