Kansas released its first album in 1974 and, subsequently, produced eight gold albums, three sextuple-platinum albums, one platinum live album and, of course, a million-selling gold single titled “Dust in the Wind.”
The “garage band” from Topeka appeared on the Billboard charts for over 200 weeks throughout the 1970’s and 1980’s and played to sold-out arenas and stadiums throughout North America, Europe and Japan. In 1995, the group’s single, “Carry on Wayward Son,” was the second most played track on classic radio and it eventually grabbed the number one spot on the charts in 1997.
Comprised of original drummer Phil Ehart, bassist Billy Greer, violinist David Ragsdale, original singer/keyboardist Steve Walsh and original guitarist Richard Williams, the group was recently inducted into the Kansas Hall of Fame and the Georgia Music Hall of Fame.
Along with touring, Kansas continues to remain a fixture on Classic Rock radio and has reached a whole new audience through their unmistakable presence in popular video games such as Rock Band and Guitar Hero, and through the inclusion of their songs in various television shows and movies like Supernatural, South Park, Old School and Anchorman.
