Tampa along with the Tampa Local 754 IAFF recently presented a scholarship for the “First Responder
Scholarship Program” at the Tampa Fire Rescue Awards Banquet held on October 11. The $500
scholarship will be awarded to a child of a former or current Tampa emergency first responder to
attend the Tampa Fire Academy. The scholarship was presented at the 25th Annual Tampa Fire Rescue
Awards Banquet at Higgins Hall, 5225 N. Himes Ave. in Tampa.
According to Impson, more than 300 Tampa citizens associated with the Tampa Fire Department
including Fire Chief Thomas E. Forward and City of Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn were in attendance at
the event to honor the firefighter organization and community support.
“We were proud to participate in the silver anniversary of Tampa Fire Rescue’s Annual Awards
Banquet. It was a night to honor each and every firefighter for delivery of service and their duties
that represent the very essence of being heroes,” said Impson. Impson and Clifford Pugh, Paul Davis’
Emergency Services Manager, presented the scholarship to Tampa Fire Rescue dignitaries.
