|Thursday Art Trip to Museum Inspires Individuals with Disabilities to Explore Their Creative Side
The Marietta Museum of Art & Whimsy opened their hearts and doors – to Community Haven’s adult art students on Thursday, November 7th. The art class–made up of adult clients with disabilities enrolled in Community Haven’s adult day training program–enjoyed a fun-filled day including a wonderful picnic lunch overlooking Sarasota Bay. “My art class will be making a weekly outing every Thursday to enjoy art in our community.” remarked Anita Ziven, Art Instructor at Community Haven, “What made this experience special is that the museum opened one hour earlier to accommodate our group.” Community Haven would like to thank volunteer, Ruth Ann Smith and volunteer coordinator, Jessica Armstrong for their assistance. The museum is located at 2121 North Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34234. Creative art experiences planned for the Community Haven art group include working with other local artists in making a group art piece, and for the holidays, embellishing ladies shoes to adorn a special Christmas tree made entirely of shoes! For more information about volunteer opportunities with Community Haven or if you are an artist or local arts organization interested in hosting a Community Haven Art Class Outing, please call Anita Ziven at (941) 355-8808 ext. 234 or email@example.com.
