TAMPA, FL (Nov. 8, 2013) – Last night, Emerge Tampa Bay host the second annual Emerging with Influence, the organization’s signature annual event that brings together the region’s top young professionals. The event was held at T. Pepin’s Hospitality Centre, and included keynote speaker, published author and President of Parlay Communications Sima Dahl.
Also as part of the event, Emerge Tampa Bay welcomed the 2014 leadership team and honored an outstanding young professional for their dedication and service to Emerge Tampa Bay and the business community with the Deanne Dewey Roberts Emerging Leader Award.

The highlight of the second annual event was the presentation of the prestigious Deanne Dewey Roberts Emerging Leader Award. The award’s namesake, the late Deanne Roberts, was a cofounder of Emerge Tampa Bay and founder of ChappellRoberts, founding sponsor of Emerging with Influence. Roberts was well-known for her passionate dedication to serving her community and mentoring the next generation of community leaders.
This year’s recipient was April Monteith with J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. Monteith was a member of Emerge Tampa Bay’s first leadership team, acting as chair of the CONNECT Segment from 2004 to 2006.Today, she serves as a member of the Emerge Tampa Bay Advisory Council.
Monteith also devotes a significant amount of time to helping the Tampa Bay community and volunteering, including roles with the Girl Scouts of West Central Florida, Metropolitan Ministries, Leadership Tampa Alumni, Hyde Park United Methodist Church, Tampa General Hospital, Hillsborough County Commission on the Status of Women, Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce, USF Alumni Association, The Ophelia Project and Ekho’s, among others.
