Oldsmar, FL, November 7, 2013 – The Oldsmar Cares 4th Annual Thanksgiving Bounty will be Tuesday, November 26 this year. This program started in 2010, to provide in-need Oldsmar families all the foods necessary to prepare a full Thanksgiving dinner. This annual event supplements the Oldsmar Cares ongoing food pantry programs.
In 2010, the first year of the program, Oldsmar Cares provided 30 “Bounty Boxes” to Oldsmar families. In 2012 we provided 72 “Bounty Boxes.” Oldsmar Cares hopes to provide even more “Bounty Boxes” this Thanksgiving.
The box will include a full size frozen turkey, fresh potatoes and other fresh vegetables, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, flour, sugar, pumpkin pie and more.
This program will be available to the first 100 families that sign up, residing in the 34677 Oldsmar zip code. Households who are receiving a Thanksgiving box or dinner from the Mattie Williams Neighborhood Family Center, Safety Harbor or Holiday Sharing Fund are not eligible for this program. Reservations for a box will be taken in person at Oldsmar Cares during office hours between October 1 and November 20.
On the day of the giveaway Oldsmar Cares will need several volunteers from 7am to 1pm to pack “Bounty Boxes” and help customers load them into vehicles. We will use our online volunteer system to gather names, so visit www.oldsmarcares.org to sign-up.
If you are interested in helping fund the program we will accept donations at the office, or online at www.oldsmarcare.org. A donation of $20 will help purchase a turkey, or $50 for a Thanksgiving “Bounty Box” for one family.
