The Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority (HART) joins the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) and the public transportation industry to salute the very special men and women in our Armed Forces.
In recognition of the sacrifices and service that America’s military heroes provide for our nation, HART will once again commemorate Veterans Day by offering free rides to those who show valid veterans or military identification on Veterans Day, Monday, November 11.
HART extends this invitation to ride to all heroic members of the armed services, both active and retired, as well as to their family members or dependents. This promotion is not valid for use of HARTPlus service or the TECO Line Streetcar System.
Public Transportation Supports America’s Veterans Day, is a day for public transportation systems and businesses to acknowledge and thank our country’s veterans. Second, it is a day to emphasis how important public transportation is for veterans whether it is for commuting to jobs, or traveling to V.A. medical centers or veteran service organizations.
“HART and its employees salute our nation’s veterans and thank them for their service,” said Katharine Eagan, Chief Operating Officer. “We are recognizing the veterans within the authority who have served across various branches of the armed forces and who work diligently to execute HART’s mission.”
The HART organizational family itself is also extremely proud to have its own ranks filled with veterans who work across a number of departments and specialties.
HART currently employs 110 veterans who work in operations, maintenance, revenue planning and administrative roles.
On Veterans Day, HART local bus routes, HARTFlex (Northdale), and HARTPlus will operate on a Saturday schedule. The TECO Line Streetcar System will operate on a Monday service schedule from Noon to 10:00 p.m. There will be no service on Veterans Day:
