|BRADENTON, Florida (October 31, 2013) — Willie Taggart, our Keynote Speaker, is a Palmetto native and past quarterback on the Hurricanes’ 1992 state title-winning team. Taggart set 11 West Kentucky University school records before his jersey was retired in 1999. Today, his 15 year coaching career boasts his hometown hero status as the head football coach for the University of South Florida. Taggart’s message will encourage and motivate the leaders of our community.
The Leadership Prayer Breakfast is mirrored after the National Prayer Breakfast held in Washington, D.C. since 1953. Every U.S. president since Dwight D. Eisenhower has participated in the breakfast, which brings leaders together to develop relationships and create common ground in building strong communities.
Taggart will inspire the audience on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014 at 7:30 a.m. at the Renaissance on 9th, Bradenton, FL 34205. The Leadership Prayer Breakfast includes many local dignitaries, business and religious leaders, educational and community leaders and provides an opportunity to support local students.

Take Stock in Children is a powerful and proven college mentoring and scholarship program for low-income, at- risk students. Students are accepted as early as the sixth grade through an application process. Once the student is selected, the student along with their parent or guardian, sign a performance contract committing to good grades and behavior, remaining drug free and crime free, and most importantly, to meet with a mentor for thirty minutes per week, every week during the school year, on the school campus. Upon graduation, as long as the student has maintained their agreement, they receive a 4 year college scholarship. The Take Stock in Children program has a 96% success rate, of keeping students in school, receiving their diploma, attending college and entering the workforce.
