From Reveille to Taps on Air
Tampa—WMNF Community Radio, 88.5fm/WMNF.org, will focus on area veterans and issues that concern them on Monday, November 11, Veterans Day, with a day of special programming.
Programming will start at Reveille (6a.m.) and continue through Taps (6p.m.).
WMNF will broadcast two special call-in programs that day. The first, from 10am to noon, will focus on veterans’ legal issues, and have lawyers available to answer questions and discuss problems that veterans face.
There will be a moment of silence at noon.
The second call in show, 4:30-6pm, will look at health care and issues surrounding veteran health issues.
There will be interviews throughout the day with organizations and individuals who work with veterans including:
Honor Flight –helping World War II vets visit the nations capital
Liberty Manor– transitional housing for homeless vets
Hillsborough Veterans Council–helping vets in the area
Habitat for Humanity–building housing for vets
Movers for Military — collect household items & clothes for veterans
American Legion Post 5
The special programming will conclude with a narrated POW/MIA Table Ceremony, where the absence of those who gave their lives to our country is noted, and Taps.
There will also be special music programming on Veterans Day. Veterans and members of the community are invited to call WMNF before Veterans Day to record a message thanking them for their service at 813.238.8001. Messages may be edited and broadcast throughout the day.
