PostcardMania’s latest holiday campaign is frighteningly good according to recipients.
CLEARWATER, F.L., October 30, 2013 — Still wondering how to make an impression among the flood of Halloween advertising without spending an arm and a leg? It may be too late to start now, but one Clearwater marketing company has figured it out.
PostcardMania, a full-service marketing company with a soft spot for direct mail, recently carried out a two-part marketing campaign that consisted of a few zombies, a little bit of YouTube and a whole lot of mystery.
Phase one: create intrigue. PostcardMania mailed a 6”x11” personalized postcard with only five words and a URL on it: “They are coming for you, (Name)” and www.youcantescape.com. For example, “They are coming for you, Jessica.” (The recipient’s first name was personalized on the front of the card using PostcardMania’s new “variable data” printing process that just launched to customers this past month).
Phase two: an awesomely creepy YouTube video that strikes just the right balance of zombie “horror” and humor at the landing page www.youcantescape.com.
Recipients of the mysterious postcard have yet to be let down by www.youcantescape.com. In fact, the feedback received by PostcardMania has been nothing short of glowing, reinforcing the belief that people actually enjoy a little scare now and then.
“I received the ‘You Can’t Escape’ postcard today and, of course, had to go online to see what it was all about… Amazing campaign. I love it!” said Marc McIntosh, owner of Showcase Events, Inc. in Hilton Head, SC. He added, “Genius marketing.”
Mary Bergeron of Tri-City Sprinklers & Landscaping in Loveland, CO, said, “Seriously, the whole setup was fabulous — very professional and the ending was a total surprise. Still laughing when I think about it! I put it on my Facebook and Twitter feed right away.”
The feedback has been tremendous for PostcardMania, proving yet again that you don’t have a to be a huge brand name with a million-dollar budget to make a dent in the Halloween marketing blitz.
The cost of PostcardMania’s killer Halloween campaign? Just $1672.19 in postage and $12.99 to register the domain name. Everything else was done in house by PostcardMania’s marketing team.
