South African Menu Debuts in Advance of Visit
by Londolozi Game Reserve Executive Chef
Beginning on Nov. 1, Michael’s On East will feature a “Londolozi Epicurean Adventure,” two-course lunch and three-course dinner menus showcasing signature recipes from Londolozi Game Reserve in South Africa. The themed menu will debut several days before Londolozi Game Reserve Executive Chef Anna Ridgewell journeys to Sarasota to host a South African Wine Tasting on Nov. 7 and Safari Sarasota Interactive Dinner on Nov. 8.
The special menus and events are inspired by the summer 2013 Gulf Coast Connoisseur Club exclusive trips to South Africa lead by Michael and Terri Klauber of Michael’s On East and Ryan Hilton of Admiral Travel International.
“It was amazing to experience what Chef Anna and her culinary team pull off everyday – fine, aromatic dishes with beautiful presentations in such rustic settings on safari. Of course, it’s also the passionate Londolozi team that creates the magical experiences,” said Michael Klauber. “In addition to offering our Sarasota guests an authentic taste of South Africa throughout the month, we are thrilled to have Chef Anna join us personally in November to raise awareness about Cape Malay cuisine and renowned South African wines as well as the important conservation and educational initiatives of the region.”
Michael’s On East Executive Chef Jamil Pineda typically prepares the Restaurant’s monthly special menu and recipes; however, the Londolozi Epicurean Adventure will be unique in that it features exact recipes from the Londolozi Game Reserve kitchen.
“Because of the time difference, I’ve been coming into the office extra early these past few weeks to connect with Chef Anna via Skype as we explored recipe options and finalized our menus,” said Pineda. “It’s so exciting to collaborate with another enthusiastic, creative chef from halfway around the world.”
The Restaurant will also offer hand-picked wine pairings from Graham Beck Wines as featured pairings with the Londolozi recipes. Each wine pairing, a Chardonnay/Viognier White Blend and Shiraz/Cabernet Sauvignon Red Blend, is $10 during dinner or $5 per pairing during lunch.
Michael’s Epicurean Adventures present culinary journeys to a new destination each month at Michael’s On East. The three-course Londolozi Epicurean Adventure dinner menu will be available Monday through Saturday evenings for $29.95 per person, Nov. 1-31, 2013, excluding Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, Nov. 28. The two-course Power Lunch offering features a choice of entrée and dessert for $18.95 per person and is available Monday through Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
