Tampa, Fla. – October 28, 2013 – ABC Fine Wine & Spirits presented a check to the Pediatric Cancer Foundation (PCF) in the amount of $41,836 at the 16th annual Yerrid Foundation Grand Slam Celebrity Fishing Tournament on Saturday, October 19, 2013.
For the third year in a row, ABC Fine Wine & Spirits participated in PCF’s Sunshine Campaign to help raise awareness and funds for childhood cancer research. During the months of August and September, ABC employees encouraged customers to donate $1 at the register. In addition, ABC partnered with several Constellation-owned brands to donate a portion of the sales to PCF. This year’s results doubled the amount raised by ABC Fine Wine & Spirits in 2012.
“Four years ago, I joined a friend of Constellation Brands at the Grand Slam Celebrity Fishing Tournament and was blown away by the cause. We immediately jumped on board and have steadily increased our support of this very worthy cause. I am fortunate enough to have raised two healthy boys. Cancer is such a terrible disease but to think of a child dealing with it just tears my heart out. ABC is truly honored to help,” said Jess Bailes, Executive Vice President of ABC Fine Wine & Spirits.
In response to their successful campaign, Nancy Crane, Executive Director of the Pediatric Cancer Foundation, said “We thank the team at ABC Fine Wine & Spirits for their participation and we are proud to have them join us in the fight against pediatric cancer. Their tremendous efforts will help immensely in the fulfillment of our mission.”
The Pediatric Cancer Foundation funds research to eliminate childhood cancer. Its focus is to find less toxic, more targeted therapies for children fighting childhood cancers. In 2005, they started the Sunshine Project, a collaboration of top doctors and researchers at 11 hospitals nationwide, (six in Florida), to fast track new treatments and increase the survival rate for children battling cancer.
