TAMPA, FL – October 25, 2013 – Bridgestone Retail Operations, LLC (BSRO) presented the Pediatric Cancer Foundation (PCF) with a donation of $500,000.23 on Friday, October 18, 2013, at The Fishermen’s Ball presented by Firestone Complete Auto Care, Tires Plus, ExpertTire, Wheel Works, and Credit First National Association. This event is part of a weekend full of activities at The Yerrid Foundation Grand Slam Celebrity Fishing Tournament presented by Bonefish Grill.
Since 2011, BSRO employees and its 2,200 retail locations nationwide have supported the efforts of PCF through the Round Up program, which offers customers the opportunity to round up their transactions to the nearest dollar for various charitable organizations, including PCF.
“BSRO is proud to partner with PCF to raise funds and awareness for the very worthy cause of pediatric cancer research,” said Stu Crum, President. “It’s the generosity of our customers and the dedication of our teammates that make contributions like these possible. We never cease to be amazed by either.”
The Pediatric Cancer Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to funding research to eliminate childhood cancer. Over the past 22 years, PCF has donated over $6 million to researchers. Eighty-six percent of expenses support PCF’s mission to fund research and eradicate childhood cancer.
“The Pediatric Cancer Foundation is honored to have the support of Bridgestone Retail Operations and its customers. Having 2,200 locations nationwide involved in this campaign brings invaluable awareness to our cause and the monetary donation will fund Phase I clinical trials and give much needed hope to our children and families,” said Nancy Crane, Executive Director, PCF.
In other honors, Jeremy Persinger, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Tires Plus, received the Ted Williams Award that evening which honors individuals whose love of the great outdoors is only surpassed by their commitment to making a difference in the community.
“Jeremy has poured his heart into the Pediatric Cancer Foundation and the community by helping children in need and we can’t think of anyone more deserving of this honor. We are so grateful for his support.” said Nancy Crane, Executive Director of PCF.
