Goodwill Manasota Promotes Literacy and Recycling With Annual Book Sale
Sarasota, Fla. — Goodwill Manasota will host its annual Bookapalooza book sale and silent auction on Saturday, Nov 9, 2013, 9 am – 7 pm, at the Centergate Bookstore, 5880 Bee Ridge Rd, Sarasota. The sale features thousands of books, including rare, out-of-print, fiction, children’s, travel, cookbooks, history and specialty books, all at 25 percent off regular Goodwill prices. The event is free and open to the public, and this year’s silent auction will feature a book signed by Julie Andrews and a rare Florida history book. There will also be special $1 books, a children’s coloring contest, and a chance for customers to win Goodwill gift certificates.
“This sale is a great opportunity for people to shop for rare and unique books that they might never find in a traditional bookstore,” says Bob Rosinsky, CEO and president of Goodwill Manasota. “Valuable books, which might otherwise have been discarded or dumped in our landfills, will be offered at a fantastic value, making this sale a win-win for both our customers and the environment.”
Goodwill has been steadfast in its commitment to recycling and prides itself on being 86% waste-free in 2012, with a goal of being 100% waste-free by 2014.
Proceeds from the book sale go to support Goodwill’s mission of providing career services and job placement and training to the community with a focus on those with disabilities and other barriers to employment.
