|BRADENTON, FL-When Jess Jewelers holds its grand opening Friday, October 25, it signals another step forward in the revitalization of Downtown Bradenton.
Jess Jewelers, formerly located in the Financial Center, has moved just across the street to its new location at 1312 6th Ave. West in the Kirk Welsh Building. Built in 1926 by two wild cat developers, the historic building was purchased and renovated by owner Tom Jess who opened Jess Jewelers’ first location on Cortez Road in 1989.
After almost 25 years of doing business in Bradenton, Tom Jess has realized his ultimate goal: To own a building that is designed to continue to provide the personalized, quality service, which is the hallmark of Jess Jewelers, the ability to expand the inventory, have an onsite repair shop and support Downtown.
“The great recession hit hard and fast. Ours is a business that is supported by discretionary dollars. Jess Jewelers was able to sustain itself and thrive in the most challenging of times. When the Kirk Welsh building became available, combined with the success of the Downtown Bradenton, it was the right time to make this move,” explained Tom Jess.
Jess Jewelers occupies 3,000 sq. ft. of the building with two additional storefronts available for lease. The store has been beautifully redone, with accents on natural light, energy efficiency, and attention to comfort for the shopper.
A ribbon cutting will take place at 4 pm, Friday, October 25, followed by music, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres catered by SOMA on the Creek, a trunk show by a well-known Manhattan jewelry designer, and three shopping sprees to be given away.
Tom Jess describes the upcoming grand opening as a major celebration for more than Jess Jewelers. He added, “Jess Jewelers is committed to our community, our customers and the future. A portion of all our sales, from October 25 through October 31, will be donated to Realize Bradenton. We invite everyone to help celebrate Jess Jewelers and our support of Bradenton.”
