St. Petersburg, Fla. – The Morean Arts Center presents two new exhibitions, Season’s Eatings: 2013 Holiday Show and STUFFED, which both open to the public on Saturday, November 9, 2013. In addition, the Morean is offering several seasonal promotions and deals at all facilities, listed below.
The Morean Arts Center continues the 2013/2014 exhibition season with the popular Holiday Show. This retail-oriented, annual exhibition includes hundreds of works of art expressing a full spectrum of images and ideas through all media, all from the Morean’s gifted members. This year’s holiday show theme is “Season’s Eatings” and all artwork will have a food-related motif.
“Food is such an important part of the holidays,” stated Amanda Cooper, Curator of Exhibitions at the Morean. “Everyone has special holiday memories associated with eating, and we’ll have unique objects for purchase that will remind people of those good times. It’s exciting to see what our member artists create when given a theme, and this year’s offerings won’t disappoint.” Items for sale include festive ornaments, functional pottery, paintings, photographs, prints and jewelry.
For the exhibition STUFFED, artists focus on a variety of edible confections. Celebrating the art of all things junk food are Patricia Schnall Gutierrez (Miami), Michealene Walsh (Baton Rouge, LA), Tim Tate (Washington, DC), Lou Haney (Oxford, MS), Rebecca Sittler (Long Beach, CA) and the late Meredith Allen. All media will be represented, including installation, glass, painting, photography and clay.
Season’s Eatings: 2013 Holiday Show and STUFFED run from November 9, 2013 – January 1, 2014 at the Morean Arts Center with free admission daily. The Morean Arts Center is open from 10AM-5PM Monday through Saturday and 12-5PM on Sundays.
The Opening Night Party will be FREE and open to the public on Saturday, November 9th from 5 to 8pm during the Second Saturday Gallery Walk.
