On Tuesday, October 29th, an Honor Flight with 80 World War II Veterans will depart St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport on an Allegiant charter flight for a day long visit to Washington D.C. and their memorial. This is the 12th Honor Flight hosted at PIE on an Allegiant charter.
Airport Director Noah Lagos states, “We hope our community continues to come out to honor our veterans and be a part of this memorable experience. The airport is proud to partner in this moving celebration.”
Honor Flight Board Member Fred Olson states “St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE), Allegiant Air, and Honor Flight of West Central Florida (HFWCF) continue to be a great team. These flights are designed to provide a complete day of tribute to these heroes. The veterans and volunteer guardians will return to PIE to a rousing welcome. Please join us. The parking lot gates will be open and flags to wave will be provided.”
The Veterans return to St. Pete-Clearwater at approximately 9 pm. The Welcome Home celebration is open to the public and various groups, military and government leaders will be at the airport to greet the veterans. Free parking will be available to attend the welcome home event sponsored by Honor Flight of West Central Florida along with courtesy parking provided by the airport for the Honor Flight Veterans. Media trucks with identification may park curbside adjacent to Baggage Claim for the Veterans arrival.
