Three professional photographers, RVD Architectural Photography owner Randy Van Duinen, Edit Suites owner Frank Rodriguez and USF Graphicstudio research associate and digital specialist Sara Howard, served as jurors. Jerel McCants, AIA, principal of Ybor City-based Jerel McCants Architecture, Inc., organized the competition as committee chair.
The winning works were announced at a reception on Thursday, October 10 at FMoPA Community Gallery. The top three entries received $300, $200 and $100, respectively.
The winning works and many of the top entries will be on display in FMoPA’s Community Gallery, 400 N. Ashley Drive in Tampa, until October 24. Each work displayed contains an architectural theme or contain some element of the built environment in the subject matter.
The top 12 entries will be featured in a 2014 calendar, for purchase at AIATampaBay.com for $20 (plus shipping). Proceeds benefit AIA Tampa Bay and will help the professional association serve as the united voice of architecture.
The competition is part of AIA Tampa Bay’s Architecture Month Celebration, a series of nine events from October 2 to November 7 celebrating architecture and the built environment. For a full schedule of events, please visit AIATampaBay.com.
