WESLEY CHAPEL, Fla. – Local entrepreneurs Dan and Jessica Benitez opened their piano studio only 10 months ago, but have since revolutionized the world of piano lessons with their new business model for Jessica’s Piano Studio. Based on their success, they have already opened other studios in Spring Hill, FL and Greenville, SC.
“In the typical piano studio business model, teachers generally share up to 50 percent of their income with the studio,” said Dan Benitez. “In exchange, the studio covers the expenses for the studio’s overhead, which would include marketing, building rental and billing. Our business model drastically reduces overhead, which puts more money where it should be – in the teachers’ pockets.”
At Jessica’s Piano Studio, teachers are encouraged to teach out of their own homes. The studio is no longer bound by a building, burdened by high rent costs or limited to a specific location. Instead, the
studio can better serve the community by providing a variety of convenient locations from which the students are able to choose. All teachers with Jessica’s Piano Studio are screened and background checked before coming on board.
“Our teachers receive 80 percent of the lesson fee, which is a significant pay increase compared to other studios,” said Dan Benitez. “Our teachers have even asked if they could send students through Jessica’s Piano Studio who had contacted them directly, so that they do not have to worry about billing.”
Thanks to this model, Dan and Jessica have felt incredibly rewarded by their small business. Not only do they have a large pool of talented and happy teachers, but they also are able to enjoy the piano lessons that Jessica provides in their own home.
“Music provides so many benefits for youngsters,” said Jessica Benitez. “A little person’s creativity is boundless – and they aren’t bothered with how things are ‘supposed to be done.’ They’re learning and discovering new things every day, and I feel honored to be a part of that process.”
