|Sarasota, FL, October 18, 2013 – In honor of Make A Difference Day; the nation’s largest day of community service, Sarasota Housing Authority (SHA) will partner with Lowe’s, the Sarasota Police Department, and Bayside Community Church on October 26, 2013 from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm for their own Community Beautification Day—to continue their efforts to beautify the Newtown area.“The culmination of the day’s efforts will be a testament to our commitment of enhancing lives and promoting the independence of our residents,” said William Russell, Executive Director for Sarasota Housing Authority. “A special thanks to Lowe’s, the Sarasota Police Department, and Bayside Community Church for their support and donations to make this day possible.”
The Sarasota Housing Authority beautification efforts will include picking up debris, adding mulch and planting flowers around its various housing properties—made possible with Lowe’s donation of over one-thousand plants and the beautification grant funds the housing authority received from the City of Sarasota. In addition, the Sarasota Police Department and Bayside Community Church are graciously donating their time to assist with the beautification efforts and Bayside Community Church will serve breakfast and lunch to all of the hardworking volunteers.

assistance for low-income families. SHA is a quasi-governmental agency, separate and distinct from the city or county government.
