Tampa, FL – In an effort to increase awareness and statewide reach of its tobacco cessation programs, USF Area Health Education Centers, known as AHEC, hired Tampa based Playbook Public Relations, to create the new “IQuit” brand campaign.
The IQuit brand was so impactful in the first six months of development that it was adopted by the entire state AHEC network serving all 67 counties in Florida and is now being used by both Tobacco Free Florida and AHEC’s statewide network.
“It was exciting to work with AHEC on its first branding campaign since we were able to start from scratch, inspiring boundless creativity, said Sally Dee, President of Playbook Public Relations. “It is gratifying that a brand that helps people make significant health and lifestyle improvements is being incorporated statewide. We hope this far reaching initiative will have a long-term effect on the health of people of Florida”.
Tobacco Free Florida’s, “Three Ways to Quit,” program is funded by the tobacco settlement reached in 1997. Clients may choose the best channel for them: by phone, online, or in-person. “I Quit with AHEC” is the in-person arm of “Three Ways to Quit”.
As part of launching the IQuit brand, Playbook Public Relations also designed and implemented the Florida AHEC Network’s website www.ahectobacco.com.
“We are delighted to be working with Playbook. The firm has helped us extend our reach and has made our marketing efforts more effective. In essence, we are able to help more Floridians quit tobacco,” said USF Tobacco Program Manager Leila Martini.
Florida employers can contact the Florida AHEC Network to schedule free tobacco cessation programs at their worksites, which will result in monumental savings in healthcare costs. AHEC also provides free training to doctors and healthcare providers so they can effectively guide their patients to quit tobacco. Group classes are led by highly trained tobacco cessation specialists and offer participants free patches, gum, or lozenges to help with nicotine withdrawal symptoms. The organization is also tasked with spearheading cessation groups with the communities it serves.
