|Palmetto, Florida – Crime Stoppers of Manatee County is pleased to announce that they will host the 11th Annual Halloween Safe Kids Night on Thursday October 31st, 2013 from 5:30pm – 8:30pm. Due to a scheduling conflict, this year’s event is in a brand new location, the Manatee County Fairgrounds, located across from Palmetto High School on 17th Street West in Palmetto.
“We’re excited about the opportunities available at the Fairgrounds,” said Frank Brunner, Executive Director of Manatee CrimeStoppers. “When we started this event 10 years ago, the fairgrounds didn’t have the Exhibiton Hall built, so we would have been outside and at the mercy of bad weather. Instead we opted for the Bradenton Auditorium. Now the fairgrounds have plenty of room inside for booths & games, plus space for public safety vehicles and equipment to display out front.”
This FREE event is held to provide children and families with a safe venue for Trick or Treating, instead of potentially unsafe neighborhoods. Many neighborhoods do not have adequate lighting or sidewalks for pedestrian traffic.
Crime Stoppers of Manatee County coordinates with approximately 30 community groups, government agencies, civic organizations and social service providers to create a carnival atmosphere at the Manatee County Fairgrounds. Each participating agency hosts a decorated booth with plenty of fun, games and candy for attending children to enjoy.
What makes this event unique? Frank Brunner, the Executive Director of Manatee CrimeStoppers points out that each participating agency also uses the venue to inform the community about the services they provide and how they can be a resource to families. “We encourage our partner agencies to promote their mission and services along with an emphasis on safety education. This event is an opportunity for kids and their families to have fun yet learn about how to make our community a safer place to live.”
The event will feature vehicles from police, fire, EMS and other public safety equipment on display in front of the Exhibit Hall, as well as fun, games and plenty of candy inside.
The event is open to the entire family and everyone attending is encouraged to come in costume. Attendees may enter thru the Fairgrounds Main Entrance on 17th Street West or thru the Gate on 14th Ave West across from Church on the Rock. Parking is available inside the fairgrounds for people who enter thru the gate on 14th Ave West. For people entering thru the Main Gate, limited parking is available along 13th Ave West.
