Bank staff helps raise $6,700 during Manatee Reads! 7th Annual Adult Spelling Bee
First Bank recently participated in Manatee Reads! 7th Annual Adult Spelling Bee, helping raise more than $6,700 for the volunteer-based non-profit community organization.
First Bank’s Sherry Harris and Janet Miller, board members for Manatee Reads, helped to organize the Spelling Bee. First Bank Retail Banking President Anne Lee, who served as the emcee, joined them. Jill Nelson (daughter of Janet Miller), First Bank’s Melissa Span, and Chris Hawes of the Nolan Group were members of the First Bank Spelling Bee Team.
The Spelling Bee included dinner, an ice cream bar and silent auction. Four teams participated with the First Bank team finishing first.
Manatee Reads! is a volunteer-based non-profit community organization dedicated to increasing the level of the functional literacy of adults in Manatee County through teaching the English language skills of reading, writing, understanding and speaking English.
