[Longboat Key, FL – October 14, 2013] The third annual “Bacchus on the Beach” – Celebration of Food & Wine will take place November 8 – 9, 2013, at the beautiful Resort at Longboat Key Club. Over 50 wineries, distillers and craft brewers will gather to share select vintages and spirits accompanied by delectable offerings from the renowned culinary team at The Resort at Longboat Key Club. The “must-have” ticket to kick-off the season is the grand finale of the weekend – the Stone Crab Celebration and Wine Tasting, set along the pristine beach at sunset where attendees will enjoy entertainment, wine tastings and a live charity auction.
An exceptional line-up of Vintner Dinners on Friday evening promises a gastronomic experience unlike any other in the region. Select from four dynamic themes – Dinner with the Masters, Kings of California Pinot, Italian-American Club, Whiskey Smoker – each spectacularly planned by the Club’s award-winning chefs and paired with specialty wines and selections from our guest winemakers and distillers. Each dinner will be held at a distinctive location behind the gates of the most prestigious private club in the area.
This year’s event will benefit the Child Protection Center (CPC) whose mission is the prevention, intervention and treatment of child abuse. Over 30,000 children are treated at the Center annually. It serves as a safe refuge for children that are being abused, a treatment center to start the healing process, an educational center for individuals and the general public and as a place of hope for children and families seeking assistance. No child is turned away. Your participation in the “Bacchus on the Beach” festivities will help to ensure that the resources of the Child Protection Center are available to all.

Hosted by Master Sommelier Trey Christie. Attendees will learn the art of tasting and savoring the wines of Lokoya, La Jota and Freemark Abbey. Guests will participate in a blind tasting of wines to determine who has it in them to become an Iron Sommelier. Small plates and cheeses provided during the class. Prizes will be awarded!
