SARASOTA, Fla. (October 11, 2013) The Sarasota County Film & Entertainment Office, a division of the Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County, presents a special crowdfunding education event Tuesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Selby Auditorium on the campus of the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee, 8350 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota.
The event’s featured speaker is Brian Meece, CEO of RocketHub, which does crowdfunding in the entrepreneurial entertainment industry and has a partnership with A&E Project Startup. The industry expert will explain the methods and facts about how crowdfunding works and how it can apply to local entertainers and entrepreneurs.
Crowdfunding is an increasingly popular method for investing and fundraising that allows people to pool their money, usually via the internet, to support people and organizations. It usually involves a relatively large number of investors pitching in small contributions.
Crowdfunding is one of the hottest topics right now in the world of filmmakers, indie producers, inventors, entrepreneurs and innovators. RocketHub uses Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms to raise financing for projects.
