Local Experts to Present the “Basics of Food Photography and Food Styling” Saturday, Nov. 2
Tampa, FL (Oct. 8, 2013) – Join Gerardo Luna, an accomplished food photographer, and Jen Stewart, a professional food stylist, for a half-day workshop designed to help photographers of all levels of experience create more polished and professional photos.
The workshop will be held 2 – 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, at Pelagia Trattoria in Tampa. Registration is limited to 30 people. Plan to arrive to check-in and pick up materials between 1:30 – 2 p.m.
Pelagia Trattoria is located adjacent to the lobby level of the Renaissance Tampa International Plaza Hotel. A section of the restaurant will be reserved for workshop presentations and to allow participants to practice taking photos of specially prepared dishes.
“The goal of the workshop is to help others understand not only the basics of food photography, but the things they can do to improve their current skills and photos,” said Luna. Anyone attending the workshop should bring the camera that they are currently using for food photography.
Presentations will be made by Luna and Stewart and will be followed by a Q&A session. Dishes will be prepared by Pelagia Executive Chef Brett Gardiner to let those attending practice photographing food indoors as well as outdoors (weather permitting).
There will also be an opportunity to visit and photograph the rooftop garden that is used by the Pelagia restaurant staff to grow fresh herbs and produce.
Luna is a commercial photographer who combines his passion for both food and photography to creative vibrant, compelling images of food.
Stewart is a chef and food stylist to the Home Shopping Network Stars. Her food stylist career spans 20 years and includes print, television and film as well as live cooking demonstrations.
“I not only see food in a culinary sense, I can envision how it is beheld through the camera lens,” said Stewart.
