J. D. Hamel Park – Gulfstream & Main in Downtown Sarasota
Pride Fest is held each year to continue the awareness of the LGBT community and celebrate our diversity in the Sarasota/ Manatee county area. This year there will be added excitement with DOMA being struck down by the Supreme Court earlier this year. This year we have chosen our theme as “EQUALITY for ALL” reflecting the growing demand for equality. We have a day of live music, great food, a vendor expo area and beverages for all ages. We will be featuring a FAMILY ZONE with a Bounce House, Slip Slide, The Ringling School of Art Face Painters, Clowns, refreshments and many activities to make it a fun day for kids of all ages. The FAMILY ZONE is sponsored by The Church of the Trinity.
Entertainment this year will include emcees Lindsey Carlton and Beneva Fruitville and great music by Karmic Tattoo of St. Pete, Diversity, The Voices of Sarasota, Mac’s Sound Machine, Waking Giants, Jami Gee, Elaine Bolton,Venice Theatre, Summer Survivor and more.
Opening Ceremonies will start of 2:00 p.m. with Suzanne Atwell, Past Mayor of Sarasota and Commissioner, Susan Chapman presenting the City Proclamation designating October 19th as Pride Fest Day in the City of Sarasota.
