The Arts Association St. Petersburg is hosting the 2nd Saturday Artwalk on October 12, 2013 from 59pm. Over 20 galleries will be participating in this month’s Artwalk. In addition to the extended hours at all locations, there will also be special events such as talks by artists, gallery owners, live performances and demonstrations and receptions. The Artwalk is free and open to the public.

Artlofts Flash Show One Night Only! Artlofts presents Nathan Beard as the first artist to be invited to participate in Art Loft’s experimental “Flash Show” concept. Nathan will present a selection of paintings produced during the last year. His approach is multifaceted, ranging from a loose realism to nonobjective abstraction. His work is an inquiry into the selective nature of the human memory. He ties these approaches together with a focus upon bold color, energetic gesture and/or the use of tape and rubbing alcohol as a resist. Charlie Parker presents: “Imminent Ritual” Art Reception with Laura Irmis The recent work of Laura Irmis titled Imminent Ritual will be on display at Charlie Parker Pottery located in the Warehouse Arts District. Enjoy viewing her body of work along with raku demonstrations and wine/beer. Laura’s life as a henna artist, doula and childbirth educator has certainly influenced her art. In this body of work, she has created functional pottery along with
functional finger labyrinths to be used for meditation and childbirth.She was influenced by the concept of using finger labyrinths in labor and childbirth to help ease the pain but she has created several versions for both men and women to use.
